Rotary International President Kalyan Banerjee presented a medal to Afghan President Hamid Karzai on 2 April in Kabul, in recognition of Karzai’s support for the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. Rotary describes itself as a “spearheading partner” of the GPEI; Mr. Banerjee is the first RI president to visit Afghanistan.
